KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies (57-49, 20-17) lost to the Mississippi Braves (49-57, 20-17) in a 16-14 shootout Friday night at Smokies Stadium. The Smokies led by as many as nine runs, but the Braves outscored Tennessee 13-2 over the game's final six innings.

A night after winning a one-run contest, the Smokies' offense erupted for 10 runs in the second inning, punctuated by Alexander Canario's grand slam for his 20th home run at the Double-A level. Jake Slaughter finished a triple shy of the cycle with four hits, two home runs and four RBIs in the loss, as the Smokies totaled nine runs off Braves' starter Roddery Munoz.

The Braves fought back from the early deficit, doing most of their damage with a seven-run fourth inning against Ben Brown (3.0 IP, 6 ER) and Max Bain (1.2 IP, 7 ER), though they took the lead for good in the seventh off Peyton Remy (L, 6-5). The Smokies' blown nine-run lead was their largest such margin of the season.
