Smith Becker Shoes Attacker of the Week

The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that rookie forward Gemel Smith is the Becker Shoes Attacker of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 14th, 2010.

Smith, a native of Toronto, ON. played a huge role in both of the Attack's wins on the weekend. Friday night in Guelph saw one of the Attack's most impressive come from behind wins ever when they scored three goals in the last two-plus minutes of play to tie the game before winning in overtime. Smith had a huge hand in that comeback, assisting on the Attack's first goal and banging in the lose puck for the Attack's second goal and his second of the year.

Saturday evening the Attack played host to the two-time defending Memorial Cup Champion Windsor Spitfires in front of a packed house at the Bayshore. Smith used his grit and speed to create several great chances, but the 5'9" centre's biggest play came when he stripped the puck off of big Spitfire winger Zack Zassian and streaked down the ice to pot the game winner for the Attack.

Smith finished the weekend with two goals and an assist to go along with a +3 rating.

The Attack is back in action at home this week for "Mercury Wednesday" against the Belleville Bulls. Game time is 7:00pm.
