Memphis Redbirds News Release

DURHAM, NC - The Memphis Redbirds dropped game two of a six-game series to the Durham Bulls on Wednesday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park by a final score of 10-5.

The Memphis first inning gave the team hope, jumping out to a 2-0 lead after one frame on RBIs from catcher Ivan Herrera and first baseman Luken Baker. That hope would last until the bottom of the third, when Durham brought 12 batters to the plate and scored seven runs to take a 7-2 lead.

The Redbirds and Bulls would trade blows in the latter innings, with Memphis answering each of Durham's tallies. In the top of the seventh inning, shortstop Evan Mendoza led off the frame with his fourth home run of the year and first since April 29, also at Durham. Later in the inning, MLB Rehabber Tyler O'Neill singled in third baseman Delvin Perez to make the score 9-4.

After a Durham run in the bottom of the seventh, designated hitter Clint Coulter led off the eighth with a bloop double. After a walk to Mendoza, Coulter scored on a wild pitch to tally the final run of the game.

Reliever TJ McFarland made his first appearance of his MLB Rehab Assignment with Memphis, tossing a 1-2-3 inning, striking out one batter.

The Memphis Redbirds (44-36) return to action on Thursday, July 7 against the Durham Bulls (43-37).
