[LOVELAND, Col.]- For the second consecutive night the Eagles scored three first period goals en route to a victory. They beat the Scorpions 5-2 on Saturday night.
Adam Hogg scored the game's opening goal 3:21 into the game. Ryan Tobler put Colorado up two with a slap shot from just inside the circle. Shortly past the halfway point of the opening period Ed McGrane lit the lamp for the 13th time this season.
The second period came in like a lamb but went out like a lion. The Scorpions scored their first goal of the game as Michael Beynon scored on a two-man advantage.
With the Eagles on a power play, Greg Pankewicz capitalized on a Scorps turnover, pushing the lead back to three. New Mexico brought the game within two just 29 seconds later.
Neil Trimm brought the puck into the offensive zone and found a streaking Torren Delforte at the net. Trimm delivered a perfect pass to Delforte who tipped the puck into the net, making it 4-2.
With 2:01 showing on the third period clock, McGrane scored his second goal of the game, finishing the night's scoring.
