
Sliders Announce California Tryout

Slippery Rock, PA - The Slippery Rock Sliders professional baseball team is partnering with the Gary RailCats of the Northern League and the Solano Mudcats semi-pro team for an open tryout on Saturday, March 3. The tryout will take place at Travis Credit Union Park in Vacaville, California. Registration begins at 9:00 am.
The try-out will consist of batting practice, defense, throwing, and a timed 60-yard dash. Pitchers will throw in the bullpen. Following a cut, remaining players will play a live game. Players should bring their own equipment including wood bats, gloves, and shoes. Any player over the age of 18 is welcome to attend with the exception of players currently playing college baseball or under contract to another professional team. There is no cost to attend this workout.

The Slippery Rock Sliders are a unique partnership between the Frontier League and Slippery Rock University with student interns holding most of the traditional front office positions and academic coursework directly integrated into the start-up of the club. The Sliders will begin their inaugural season on Wednesday, May 23, at the Washington Wild Things. The home opener will be on Tuesday, May 29, against the Florence Freedom. 32 home games will be at Jack Critchfield Park on the campus of Slippery Rock University.
