
Slammers Defeat Loggerheads In OT

Alabama Slammers News Release
PELHAM, AL- The Slammers defeated Lakeland last night 5-4 in overtime, their third win over the Loggerheads this week. Alabama sprinted to an early lead, as Paul Vincent scored twice in 43 seconds, then Ryan Prentice added one, upping the lead to 3-0.
Lakeland would battle back to tie however. Jeremy Vokes scored in the first and again in the second, then an early third period goal by Lenny Bonanno tied the game 3-3. After a great hustle play by Mike Craigen regained the lead for the Slammers, Chris Cerella scored a power play goal for the Loggerheads with just 15 seconds left to force overtime. Joe Savioli then went to work for Alabama, driving in off the wing to score and end the game in favor of the Slammers, just 47 seconds into the extra session. Fred Beaubien made 32 saves for his second consecutive win in net for the Slammers. Tyler Murray played well in net for Lakeland, making 30 saves.
The Alabama Slammers return to the Pelham Civic Complex tonight at 7:05 p.m. to once again take on the Lakeland Loggerheads. It's Fox 6 Family night where fans can get four tickets, four hot dogs, and four soft drinks for only $39. Also, the first 1,000 fans will recieve a free pair of Cheer Stix courtesy of Fox 6.
