Barracudas Drop the Trax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Barracudas wrapped up their home opening weekend with a 5-3 win over the Macon Trax in front of 2,126 at the Veteran's Memorial Arena.

The Barracudas were led by defenseman Mike Johnson (0g-4a), Klage Kaebel (2g-1a), and Chris Hackett who added a pair of assists. Johnson has picked up seven assists in the last three games since being brought off Injured Reserve. Kaebel has scored all three of his goals against the Trax, and Hackett scored his first professional goal.

The Barracudas (4-2-0, 8 pts.) were 2-7 on the power play and 4-5 on the penalty kill, out shot Macon 38-27. Goaltender Nate Ziemski, making his first start of the season made 24 saves for the win.

This weekend, the Barracudas play three games in three nights. They travel to Macon on Friday night to take on the Trax. Face-off time is 7:35. On Saturday, the Barracudas host the Miami Manatees at the Veteran's Memorial Arena. Face-off time is 7:05. Then the Barracudas travel to Lakeland for their first meeting with the Loggerheads.
