
Barracudas Fall again to Manatees

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Barracudas fell for the second time to the Miami Manatees 6-2.in front of 9,589 screaming fans, and the largest crowd to ever watch a hockey game in Jacksonville. Tonight's crowd surpassed the previous record of 9,189 that watched the 1973 debut of the Jacksonville Barons of the American Hockey League.
The Barracudas were led by center Lyle Steenbergen who scored twice and Mike Johnson picked up two assists. Rookie goaltender Brandon Snee made 25 saves on 30 Miami shots. Nate Ziemski started the third period and gave up one goal while making six saves.
Miami (5-0-1, 11 points) were led by Oak Hewer (2g-2a), Eric Perricone (1g-3a) and J.F. Picard (1g-2a). The Manatees jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Lyle Steenbergen cut the lead to 3-1. In the second period the Barracudas cut the Miami lead to 3-2 with anther Steenbergen goal. But 39 seconds later, Oak Hewer picked up his second goal of the game and put Miami back on top by two. Miami added one more goal midway through the second period, and then added one early in the third to seal the win.
The Barracudas next face the Macon Trax, Saturday afternoon at 12:35 at the Veteran's Memorial Arena. After the game, join the players for a Florida/Florida State Skate from 3-5. Be one of the first people to skate at the new arena and watch the football game on the jumbotron.
