AUGUSTA, N.J. - *The Brockton Rox used a five run seventh inning to cruise to a 13-5 win over the Sussex Skyhawks on Friday night before 4,087 at Skylands Park.

Brockton designated hitter Jason Colson finished three for five with five RBI, while third baseman Philip Cuadrado was three for five with three RBI, to lead the Rox offensively.

The Rox broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh when they loaded the bases after back-to-back Sussex errors and an intentional walk. Cuadrado then lined a single to right center scoring two to give the Rox a 5-3 lead. Colson followed with a ground rule double, scoring two and giving Brockton a 7-3 advantage. Brockton added another run on the third Skyhawk error of the inning to make it 8-3.

Brockton (7-3) added four more runs in the top of the eighth, highlighted by a three run home run by Colson.

Left fielder Ryan Crespi went three for five in his Skyhawks' debut. The Pope John XXIII Regional High School graduate was signed by Sussex (3-7) on Friday out of the Golden League, where he was batting .354 with four home runs and 21 stolen bases for the Reno Silver Sox.

The teams return to Skylands Park on Saturday at 5 p.m. for the second game of a three game set. There will be a Culligan post-game catch on the field, so fans are encouraged to bring their gloves.
