Drucker, Kite Sold to the Detroit Tigers

DURHAM, NC - The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that the Detroit Tigers have purchased the contracts of Grand Prairie AirHogs RHP Scot Drucker and Sioux Falls Canaries LHP Josh Kite. Drucker and Kite become the seventh and eighth league players sold to a major league organization since the beginning of the 2008 season.

In 15 starts with Grand Prairie, Drucker went 8-3 with a 2.41 ERA. He had 20 walks and 57 strikeouts in 93 1/3 innings pitched while having an opponents' batting average of .224. The Miami, FL native was second in the league in earned run average.

The 26-year-old was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 13th round of the 2004 draft. Drucker pitched three seasons with the A's organization accumulating a record of 20-11 with a 4.70 ERA and 176 punchouts.

Kite was 1-1 with a 2.31 ERA and one save in 21 appearances for the Canaries. In 23 1/3 innings pitched, the southpaw gave up only eight walks and 17 hits while striking out 26 batters. The native of Greeneville, TN was signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Cleveland Indians in 2004.
