
Skyhawks And Tornadoes Split Pair

AUGUSTA, N.J. - The Sussex Skyhawks and Worcester Tornadoes split a pair of seven inning games on Monday evening at Skylands Park. Worcester took the first game 4-3, a completion of a suspended game from July 23 in Worcester. Sussex rebounded with a 5-0 win in the second game behind brilliant pitching by Kyle Ruwe.
GAME 1 - Worcester 4 Sussex 3 (7 innings):

Worcester snapped a 3-3 game in the bottom of the fifth inning when Chuck Jeroloman walked. Jeroloman then hustled his way to third on a Michael MacMillan single. The throw to third from left field was errant, and Jeroloman was able to score to make it 4-3.
Alex Pena went 6.1 innings to pick up the win for the Tornadoes. Pena gave up three runs on five hits, while walking two and striking out six. John Birtwell came in and pitched the Tornadoes out of trouble in the top of the seventh to pick up the save. Craig Snipp took the loss for the Skyhawks.

GAME 2 - Sussex 5 Worcester 0 (7 innings):
Sussex starter Kyle Ruwe gave up just four hits and went the distance in a seven-inning affair as the Skyhawks topped the Tornadoes 5-0 in the second game of the doubleheader. Ruwe struck out two and walked no one, while picking up his eighth win of the season.
Sussex went up 1-0 in the bottom of the first, and scored three more in the second, highlighted by a Mark Pappas two run single. Matt Weston cracked a solo homerun in the sixth for the Skyhawks to make it 5-0.
Worcester and Sussex return to action at Skylands Park on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
