Skyforce Wins Thriller To Snap 13-Game Skid

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Jan. 21, 2011) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the New Mexico Thunderbirds 97-96 at the Sioux Falls Arena on Friday night. Sean Marshall saved the day with a clutch 3-pointer in the final seconds as Sioux Falls snapped a 13-game losing streak in Mo McHone's return to the bench.
The game could not have been closer in the first half as both teams scored the same amount of points in the first two quarters as the score was knotted at 41 at halftime.
Sioux Falls (3-18) built a six-point lead (58-52) with just over four minutes to go in the third quarter but New Mexico (11-13) cut the deficit to one point (65-64) following a tip dunk by Jamine Peterson with 4.3 seconds remaining in the quarter.
Sioux Falls appeared to have the game in hand as they led 84-72 with 4:21 to go in the contest but New Mexico stormed back and tied the game at 94 apiece following a 3-pointer by Dar Tucker with 13.9 seconds remaining in the game. Sean Marshall sent the Skyforce faithful into a frenzy with a clutch 3-pointer with 2.8 seconds to go to give Sioux Falls a 97-94 lead. Stephen McDowell made two free throws to get the Thunderbirds back within a point but New Mexico could not get a shot off following a missed free throw by David Bailey as the Skyforce won at home for just the second time in 11 tries.
Miami HEAT assignee Dexter Pittman recorded 20 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks in his return to the lineup after missing one game due to injury. Marshall scored 19 points behind 4-of-7 3-pointers while Anthony Harris had a solid all-around game with 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
Tucker posted a game-high 32 points on 13-of-24 field goals including 5-of-9 3-pointers. Shane Edwards contributed 23 points and nine rebounds while Josh Bostic added 11 off the bench.
The same two teams tangle tomorrow night at the Sioux Falls Arena at 7 p.m. CT.
