Sioux Falls, SD (December 6, 2005) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today the signing of Mike Mackell for the 2005-06 season, pending league approval. Per club rules, terms of the contract are confidential.

Mackell, a 6'9" center, was drafted by the Gary Steelheads in the third round (22nd pick overall) of the 2003 CBA Draft. Although he has not played in the CBA, he has enjoyed two successful seasons in the USBL. During the 2004 season he played for the St. Louis Skyhawks and in 19 games (14 starts) he averaged 20.9 ppg along with 8.0 rpg. This past season he played for the Oklahoma Storm where he averaged 17.3 ppg and 8.3 rpg in 29 games (28 starts). His solid play with the Storm earned him All-USBL second team honors.

Mackell played college basketball at San Diego State University from 2001-03. In his two seasons with the Aztecs he averaged 12.4 ppg and 4.5 rpg in 63 games (58 starts). Prior to SDSU he attended Porterville Junior College for two seasons and was named the California junior college player of the year after averaging 22.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per contest as a sophomore.
