Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that they have selected three players in this year's NBA G League Draft, including first round draft pick Kris Jenkins (14th overall), second round draft pick Jimmie Taylor (34th overall), and fourth round draft pick Tre Burnette (92nd overall).
Jenkins, who played four seasons at Villanova University, appeared in 145 games (73 starts) over the course of his career. As a junior, he started 38 of 40 contests, helping lead Nova to the 2016 NCAA Championship Game where he hit a three-point field goal as time expired to give them the win over the University of North Carolina. After primarily coming off the bench in his first two seasons, Jenkins served as a key contributor in the starting lineup for the Wildcats during his junior and senior seasons. Last year, Jenkins averaged 13.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while leading the Wildcats to a 32-4 record.
Taylor played four seasons for the University of Alabama, and made a larger impact than his final numbers might show. In total, Taylor appeared in 133 games (99 starts) for the Crimson Tide and averaged 4.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game. His best statistical season came as a sophomore, when he averaged 5.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in a career-high 23.6 minutes per game.
Finally, the Skyforce selected Tre Burnette out of the University of South Dakota, just 60 minutes south of Sioux Falls. Burnette appeared in 65 games (56 starts) in two seasons for the Coyotes after transferring from Williston State. As a senior during the 2015-16 season, Burnette averaged 13.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
