Bighorns Select Four Players in the 2017 NBA G League Draft

RENO, NV - The Reno Bighorns today acquired four players in the NBA G League Draft and completed a trade with the Maine Red Claws, according to General Manager Anthony McClish.

With the Bighorns first pick (2nd overall) in the 2017 NBA G League Draft, the Bighorns selected Brandon Austin, a 6'8" guard who played collegiately at Northwest Florida State College. During his sophomore year, Austin posted 15.8 points (.403 FG%, .333 3p%, .756 FT%), 4.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 15.1 minutes per game in 35 contests (all starts). Prior to going undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, Austin joined the Orangeville A's in Canada where he averaged 9.0 points (.345 FG%, .500 FT%), 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists and 20.2 minutes in five games.

Austin most recently played seven games (one start) with the Philadelphia Sixers Summer League Team, posting 10.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.

Reno selected Chris Flemmings with the 7th pick in the 2017 NBA G League Draft before sending the UNC-Wilmington product to Maine and Reno's own 2018 4th round draft pick. In turn, Maine tabbed Dominic Cheek with the 24th overall selection and traded his rights to the Bighorns along with Maine's own 2018 2nd round pick and returning rights to Josh Hagins.

Cheek, a McDonalds All-American (2009), posted 12.5 points (.401 FG%, 322 3p%, .804 FT%), 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in 32 appearances (29 starts) for Villanova his junior year. During the 2016-17 season, Cheek played 11 games (all starts) with the Zonkeys de Tijuana in the Mexican CIBACOPA League where he averaged 14.5 points (.449 FG%, .688 FT%), 5.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 21.7 minutes per game.

Reno selected Anthony LeFeau with the 40th overall selection. The Cerritos College forward accrued averages of 5.4 points (.475 FG%, .455 3P%, .545 FT%) in 26 games for the Falcons.

With the 80th overall pick, the Bighorns selected Akeem Richmond. Richmond played 14 games with Reno during the 2015-16 season were he averaged 7.1 points (.449 FG%, .475 3P%, .750 FT%) and 1.2 rebounds per game.

The Bighorns make their 2017-18 home debut versus the Austin Spurs on Friday, Nov. 10 at the Reno Events Center.
