Skyforce Outlast Mad Ants in Double Overtime

Fort Wayne, IN (November 30, 2008)- The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in double overtime, 119-117, at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, IN. The game saw 11 lead changes and 14 ties.
The Mad Ants started the game on fire, scoring the first 7 points of the game and going up 11-2 in the first three minutes of the game, but the Skyforce put together a 24 to 2 run and dominated the rest of the half. The Skyforce led by as many as 21 points and were piloted by Bobby Jones, who finished with 17 points in the first 24 minutes of play.
The Mad Ants would not allow themselves to be exterminated in the second half and fought their way back into the ball game, outscoring the Skyforce 35-16 in the third. Behind the sharpshooting of the Mad Ants backcourt, they managed to tie the game with 30 seconds left in the quarter.
The Mad Ants took the lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter to make it a highly competitive quarter that saw 8 ties and 7 lead changes. At the end of regulation, it was all tied up at 104.
In the nail-biting extra 10 minutes of play, Frank Williams scored 9 points to help the Skyforce outlast the Mad Ants with a final score of 119-117.
Williams finished with 27 points for the Skyforce. His teammate Bobby Jones led all scorers with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Gary Forbes finished with 19 points and Carl Elliot recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Ron Howard led the way for the Mad Ants with 23 points. Three players recorded double-doubles for the Ants: Coleman Collins scored 14 points and had 16 rebounds, Chris Hunter finished with 22 points and 16 rebounds, and point guard Walker Russell Jr. finished with 14 points and 10 assists. All 10 players on the Mad Ants roster scored.
The Mad Ants and the Skyforce will meet again on Tuesday, December 2nd at the Memorial Coliseum at 7:00 pm.
