
14ers Run Past T-Birds in Home Opener

DENVER - November 30, 2008 - The Colorado 14ers put on an impressive performance in their home opener with a 126-97 win over the Albuquerque Thunderbirds at the Broomfield Event Center on Sunday afternoon. Colorado took a 10 point halftime lead and blew the game open with a 37-22 advantage in the third quarter. The 14ers led by as many as 39 points in moving to 2-0 on the season.
Josh Davis led the way for the Colorado with 26 points and 10 rebounds in his first game of the season. Dominique Coleman and Jamar Brown also posted double-doubles in the 14ers win.
"Josh is a good player and a heady player and he knows how to play the game," said 14ers head coach Bob MacKinnon. "I think we've got a few guys on this team that can go to the next level and he is one of them."
All nine players that saw action for Colorado scored, with seven of the nine posting double figure efforts in the win. Albuquerque was led by David Monds 17 points and 20 rebounds in the loss. Cheyne Gadson and Fred Gibson added 15 points apiece for the Thunderbirds in the losing effort.
The 14ers are off until December 9 when they will visit the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Albuquerque continues on the road at Iowa on Thursday night.
