Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
YORK, Pa. - The Sugar Land Skeeters won their third-straight road game on Thursday with a 4-2 come-from-behind victory over York at Santander Stadium. The win bolsters the Skeeters' record to 35-32.
York pushed across a run in the bottom of the first on Sugar Land starter, Sean Gallagher. Shannon Wilkerson started the frame with a single and moved up to third on an error at first. Nick Ferdinand lifted a sacrifice fly to center allowing Wilkerson to come in and break the scoring seal, 1-0.
Sugar Land manufactured a run in the top of the fourth to tie the game. Johan Limonta drew a two-out walk to keep the inning alive before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Kevin Russo doubled into left, bringing in Limonta to tie the game at one.
The Revolution drove in a run in the bottom of the fourth to reclaim the lead. Brandon Boggs opened the inning with a walk and Andres Perez followed with a single into left. Salvador Paniagua hit a would-be single into center field, but Almonte fired quickly to second to force out Perez, but allowing the run to score and give York a 2-1 advantage.
The early lead by York would be short-lived, however, as Chris Wallace launched his second home run of the series to tie the game. The long ball was the backstops team-leading eighth home run of the year.
After the Sugar Land bullpen kept the Revolution in check, the Skeeters took their first lead of the game in the top of the ninth. Delwyn Young opened with a single to right before Joe Benson followed with a single into right. Limonta moved both runners up on a groundout. Russo roped his first triple of the season, spraying a ball into right to score both runners and stake the Skeeters to a 4-2 lead.
Hunter Cervenka pitched a shutout in the bottom of the ninth to earn his first save of the season and secure the victory for Sugar Land. Andrew Johnston earned his second win to improve to 2-0.
