(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - Bryan De La Cruz provided a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the ninth Friday night to give the Sugar Land Skeeters a 4-3 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas.
De La Cruz's double down the left-field line scored Yadiel Rivera and gave the Skeeters their first-ever walk-off win in their Triple A history. Rivera walked to lead off the inning and moved to second on attempted sacrifice bunt by Miguelangel Sierra that he was able to reach on due to an error by El Paso pitcher James Norwood.
Right-hander Hector Velazquez collected the win in relief, throwing two scoreless innings and striking out two.
Taylor Jones opened the scoring in the third inning with a sacrifice fly. Rivera followed the next inning with an RBI double down the right-field line at Constellation Field. He then stole third and came across to score on a throwing error from El Paso catcher Webster Rivas.
El Paso came storming back with RBI doubles from John Anderoli and Rivas in the sixth and a solo homer from Matt Batten in the seventh.
The game went into a 46-minute rain delay in the top of the second inning.
