Skeeters Unable to Hold on for Win vs. Round Rock

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters were unable to complete a prolific comeback effort Saturday night, losing to the Round Rock Express, 10-8, at Constellation Field.

The Skeeters scored seven unanswered runs and took an 8-7 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Round Rock tied the game in the sixth inning on a home run from Andy Ibanez and scored two more in the ninth to take the lead.

A four-run fourth inning for the Skeeters tied the game at 7-7. Miguelangel Sierra knotted things up with a two-run homer to left-center - his second home run of the season. Bryan De La Cruz put the Skeeters out in front an inning later with an RBI double.

Alex De Goti sparked the comeback effort, beginning with a triple to open the bottom half of the first. He came around to score on a wild pitch. De Goti hit his third home run of the season with a solo shot in the third inning.

Skeeters right-hander Hector Velazquez allowed the two runs in the ninth inning, which were his first two runs allowed through 11 2/3 innings this season, and was handed the loss. Charles Leblanc hit a solo home run and Leody Taveras added an RBI single to give Round Rock the ninth-inning lead.

The Skeeters and Express continue their six-game series at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday night. Left-hander Ryan Hartman will face Round Rock right-hander Drew Anderson.
