
Skeeters Take Both Games of Double-Header

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS- The Skeeters won Game 1 of their double-header 6-2 behind a strong pitching performance from Jake Hale. Hale pitched a complete game and picked up his first win of the season, going seven innings, giving up two runs on eight hits with two strikeouts. Mickey Storey picked up his fourth loss, going three innings, giving up three runs on four hits with one strikeout and three walks.
Hale gave up an early run on Eric Farris' double that scored Aharon Eggleston to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead. The Skeeters bounced back in the bottom of the 1st on a two-run single from Travis Scott that would put the Skeeters up 2-1. Jeremy Barfield added a run in the bottom of the 2nd on a sac-fly to left making it 3-1.
Connor Little's balk and a wild pitch to Dominguez tacked on two more runs for the Skeeters extending their lead to 5-1. Ricky Hague belted a homer to deep left to put the Skeeters up 6-1. Robert scored a run late on a wild pitch from Jake Hale to make it 6-2. With the win, the Skeeters snapped their three game skid. In Game 2, the Skeeters managed to pull out a 4-3 win in extra innings. Mycal Jones belted a homer to left off Jon Velasquez to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead in the 1st. Vinny Zarrillo singled home Matt Fields in the 2nd to put the Patriots up 2-0. The Skeeters responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning beginning with a two-run single by Wilfredo Rodriguez followed by an RBI single by Josh Prince that would score Rodriguez and put the Skeeters up 3-2.
The Patriots tied it back up at 3-3 in the top of the 4th with a sac-fly from Mycal Jones that would score Matt Fields. The Skeeters will wrap up their series with Somerset tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. RHP Sean Gallagher (6-4, 3.30) will face off against RHP Shaun Garceau (1-1, 4.40 ERA).
