SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Sugar Land Skeeters dropped the series finale to Somerset, 4-2, on Wednesday evening at TD Bank Ballpark. The loss sends the Skeeters to 20-26 in the second half and 56-60 overall.

Sugar Land took an early, but short-lived lead in the contest, pushing across a pair of runs in the top of the second. Kevin Russo doubled with one out and was followed by a Renny Osuna single, but Russo held at second. An Amadeo Zazueta groundout allowed both runners to advance into scoring position with two outs. Willy Taveras worked a walk to load the bases. Jeff Dominguez reached on an error by the first baseman, allowing Russo to score and an additional throwing error by the second baseman brought Osuna home, giving the Skeeters a 2-0 lead.

As previously mentioned, the Skeeters lead was short-lived as Somerset brought home a trio of runs to claim the lead for good. Adrian Martin, making his first start since the 2010 season, gave up a pair of singles to right field to put two aboard. Following a passed ball, Mat Gamel drove in a run on a fielder's choice. Ricky Claudio doubled home Gamel before another RBI fielder's choice off the bat of James Skelton moved the score to 3-2.

The Patriots tacked on an additional run in the bottom of the fourth to chase Martin from the game. Claudio drew a leadoff walk before Adam Donachie notched a ground-rule double to move a pair into scoring position. Nate Spears lifted a sacrifice fly to left, moving the score to 4-2.

The bullpen of the Skeeters was phenomenal for the rest of the game, allowing no hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over the final five innings of work.
