
Skeeters Open Season with 4-1 Win

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS - The Sugar Land Skeeters opened the 2016 season in style, knocking off the Bridgeport Bluefish 4-1 in front of a capacity crowd at Constellation Field. Sean Gallagher earned the win after tossing five scoreless innings. Zinicola pitched the eighth inning followed by a scoreless ninth inning pitched by Loop, earning him his first save of the season.
Jeff Dominguez began the bottom of the fourth inning with a home run, putting the Skeeters on the board. After a single by Patrick Palmeiro and a walk from Josh Prince, Dominguez once again drove in runs for the Skeeters with a double to deep right field against Bridgeport pitcher Taylor Thompson. Dominguez's double resulted in two additional runs for the Skeeters. Dominguez finished the night 3-4 and with 3 RBI.
Josh Vitters drove in Bridgeport's single run with a solo homer in the top of the seventh against Skeeters pitcher Roy Merritt. The Skeeters continue their seven-game homestand tomorrow against Bridgeport at 7:05 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and fans will be treated to a post-game fireworks show.
