Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Skeeters' early four run lead helped to carry them to a series finale win against the Bridgeport Bluefish. Thursday night's game gives Jake Hale his fourth win and Ross Seaton his first loss. After dropping the series opener, the Skeeters take a 2-1 series win over Bridgeport.

The Skeeters hit the ground running in the first inning, starting off with Rene Tosoni scoring on a groundout to first base from Delwyn Young. Following a single from Ricky Hague, an error on Bluefish left fielder Jonathan Galvez would then allow Jeff Dominguez to score, increasing the Skeeters' lead to 2-0. The Skeeters rally continued with an RBI single from Jeremy Barfield that would bring in Hague.

With Johan Limonta batting, Bluefish pitcher Frank DeJiulio would throw a wild pitch allowing Travis Scott to advance to third and Barfield to second. Limonta's sacrifice fly to right field would then bring in Scott, capping off the top of the first inning with another run and a 4-0 lead for the Skeeters.

Wellington Dotel would put the Bluefish on the board in the bottom of the third with an RBI single bringing in Luis Hernandez. However, the Skeeters would continue to increase their lead with an additional run off of Barfield's single in the top of the fifth, allowing Scott to cross the plate.

Bridgeport would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the eighth as a result of an RBI single from Anthony Giansanti scoring Endy Chavez and Welington Dotel crossing the plate from third off of an error by Barfield in right field. Despite cutting the deficit to two runs, Bridgeport would be unable to catch up, giving the Skeeters a 5-3 victory.
