York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution came up short against the Sugar Land Skeeters, dropping a 4-2 decision on Tuesday night at Sovereign Bank Stadium. The Revs will look to salvage a game in the series on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Michael Hernandez launched a solo homer to left-center in the bottom of the first inning giving York a 1-0 lead, but the Revs did not score again until the ninth.

Revs starter Yunior Novoa retired eight of the first nine batters he faced, but three consecutive two-out singles in the third gave the Skeeters a 2-1 lead. Bubba Bell and Jimmy Van Ostrand each drove in runs, erasing York's early advantage.

Novoa came back to retire the next seven batters before Bell led off the sixth with a triple to center and scored on Van Ostrand's groundout to short, making it a 3-1 game.

The Skeeters added one more in the ninth as Ben Harrison crossed home on a wild pitch, after stealing second and third base.

York brought the winning run to the plate with no outs in the ninth inning. Andres Perez reached on an infield single and Ramon Castro blooped a single into shallow center to start the rally. Stephen Douglas then singled up the middle, scoring Perez to make it a 4-2 game with still no outs. But after falling behind Danny Gonzalez, Skeeters closer Gary Majewski came back to record a double play grounder on a hard hit ball, and retired Travis Scott on another grounder to preserve Sugar Land's win.

Skeeters starter Matt Wright (2-0) allowed just one run in seven innings for the third consecutive start, walking none and striking out six to earn the victory.

Novoa (0-3) suffered the loss despite pitching well, charged with three runs in 5.2 innings. He walked only one and fanned four.

Hernandez went 3-for-4 for the York offense, which out-hit Sugar Land 9-6 despite the loss.

Revs relievers Dumas Garcia and James Houser each kept things close, retiring all four batters faced in the late innings.

York will send Corey Thurman (1-1, 6.27) to the mound on Wednesday night against Sugar Land's Heath Phillips (0-2, 6.52) with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. It is Maple Donuts Night as fans who buy a dozen donuts from any Maple Donuts store receive two FREE tickets to Wednesday's game. It's also a Wing Wednesday in the Bud Light Picnic Pavilion. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
