
Sixers Bats Stay Alive in 6-3 Win

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - After clubbing 14 hits on Monday, the 66ers produced an encore tonight with a 15 hit barrage to pull within a game of a wild card spot with a 6-3 win over the Quakes.
After setting a season-high with five doubles and nine extra-base hits Monday, Inland Empire rapped five more doubles tonight and finished with seven extra-base hits.
The first four batters in the order- Justin Fuller, Elian Herrera, Scott Van Slyke and Andres Perez- combined for nine hits in 20 at-bats.
The 66ers won despite walking ten batters. The Quakes went 1 for 14 with runners in scoring position to leave 14 runners on the night.
The 66ers struck first in the first inning as Justin Fuller led of with a double and later scored.
After the Quakes tied it in the second, Jaime Ortiz capped a two-run third inning with an RBI double.
After the Quakes tied the game at three, Andres Perez cleared the batter's eye in center with a deep homer to regain a 4-3 lead for the 66ers.
That proved to be the difference, but Alex Garabedian hit a home run for the second night in a row to add some breathing room.
Jake McCarter (3-3) worked 2 1/3 innings of no-hit, scoreless ball for the win.
The 66ers used six pitchers, with Marcel Prado entering with two on and no outs in the eighth. He escaped the jam and worked the final two innings for the save.
Miguel Sanfler made his first start of the season and lasted 2 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 eanred) on 2 hits and a walk.
Jeremy Thorne (4-8) started for the Quakes and took the loss.
The 66ers will try for a sweep Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. RHP Tim Sexton (8-12, 3.44) starts for the 66ers while RHP Mike Kenney (1-5, 5.15) takes the ball for the Quakes.
