Inland Empire 66ers News Release
SAN BERNARDINO, CA - San Bernardino County was named the seventh-best minor-league sports market in the United States, according to rankings issued by Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal earlier this week.
The Inland Empire 66ers, advanced single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, play home games at Arrowhead Credit Union Park in San Bernardino. The 66ers are one of three California League teams, along with a minor-league hockey team that round out the robust minor-league market in San Bernardino County.
The national sports publication ranked 239 markets in several categories, including the number of years their minor-league teams have existed, paid attendance for those teams, fluctuations in each market's unemployment rate and population, and each area's total personal income.
According to the report, "Attendance for the area's three Class A teams is on pace to top 600,000 for the first time since 2005, and the clubs have combined for a 7 percent increase in attendance to date compared with last season."
The following are the top 10 minor-league sports markets, as ranked by SportsBusiness Journal:
1. Hershey-Harrisburg, Pa. 2. Fort Wayne, Ind. 3. Tulsa, Okla. 4. Billings, Mont. 5. Spokane, Wash. 6. Peoria, Ill. 7. San Bernardino County, Calif. 8. Bossier City-Shreveport, La. 9. Idaho Falls, Idaho 10. Rochester, N.Y.
The 66ers open the final homestand of the season Thursday at 7:05 p.m. For tickets or more information, stop by the 66ers ticket office at 280 South E Street in San Bernardino, visit www.ie66ers.com or call 909-888-9922.
