North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, took game one of their series against the Columbia Fireflies, 6-0 on Friday night.
The game started off as a pitcher duel between Joe Cavallaro of Columbia and Joey Marciano of Augusta. Both were dominating until the GreenJackets got a rally going in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Orlando Garcia doubled off the left field wall which scored Ryan Kirby and gave the GreenJackets a 1-0 lead. In the fifth inning, Jeffry Parra would hit his first home of the season, giving the GreenJackets a 2-0 lead.
Then in the bottom of the eighth inning, the GreenJackets batted around for the first time this season. They would extend their lead by four and take away all hope of a Fireflies comeback in the top of the ninth.
