Six Errors Doom Diablos In Airhogs' Rout

El Paso Diablos News Release

EL PASO, TX- The Diablos made six defensive errors and the visiting Grand Prairie AirHogs racked up 20 hits en route to a 16-3 victory at Cohen Stadium.

El Paso trailed just 7-3 entering the eighth inning, but two errors and six AirHogs hits led to eight runs in the frame, turning a close game into a blowout and tying the three game series at one contest apiece.

Starter Ramon Garcia (1-1) lasted just five innings and wasn't as effective as Grand Prairie's Nick DeBarr (11-4), who exacted a measure of revenge after El Paso defeated him a week prior at Quik Trip Park in Grand Prairie.

El Paso scored all three of its runs in the third inning. Reid Fronk drove in two with an RBI double and Welington Dotel added an RBI of his own on the day when he was named the American Association's Hitter of the Month.

Andres Rodriguez homered for the AirHogs, who reestablished a nine and a half game lead in the South Division over El Paso.

The series finale is Thursday evening at 7:05 p.m., with the Diablos (30-37) scheduled to throw their ace Scott Hodsdon.
