Laredo Lemurs News Release

Lincoln 3, Laredo 1 (Game 1 - 7 innings)

Trailing, 1-0, in the fourth inning of Game 1 against Laredo on Tuesday, the Saltdogs used about every trick in the book to push across three runs in the frame. Lincoln put runners on base via a single, a walk, a hit batsman and a double, earning the home team a 3-1 win. The first run of the frame came on an RBI double by 1B John Alonso. Alonso went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. The Lemurs outhit Lincoln, 4- 3, but the timely at-bats for the Saltdogs proved to be the difference. Starting Lincoln pitcher Thomas Palica earned the win, throwing six innings and allowed only one run on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts.

Laredo 6, Lincoln 1 (Game 2 - 10 innings)

Someone must have forgotten to tell the Lemurs and Saltdogs that Game 2 was scheduled for seven innings, as well. Laredo and Lincoln fought well into extra innings before the Lemurs pounced in the 10th inning and defeating the Saltdogs, 6-1. Lemurs DH John Allen drove in the first three runs with a two-out double to give his team a 4-1 lead. It turns out that is all the Lemurs needed. They still added another two runs for good measure. Both starting pitchers threw well, but neither factored in the decision. Laredo reliever Edwin Walker took the mound in the seventh for the Lemurs, tossing the final three innings and allowing only two hits with two strikeouts to pick up the win.

The Lemurs will be on the road for an 11 game trip that will take them to Lincoln, Nebraska, Grand Prairie, Texas, and El Paso, Texas, for their longest trip of the year. You can get tickets at the Laredo Lemurs box office, online at www.laredolemurs.com, or by phone at 956-7LEMURS. All games at Uni-Trade Stadium are set for 7:30pm.
