Sioux Falls scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a 1-1 tie and win the first game of a day-night doubleheader. Sioux City got on the board first in the bottom of the fifth inning on a solo home run by DH Jason Carlson. Sioux Falls would tie it at 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning on a RBI double by 1B Justin Schuda. Canaries relief pitcher Jason Cierlik pitched a scoreless eighth inning to pick up the win. Explorers starting pitcher Trevor Marcotte threw a strong game going seven innings giving up only one run on three hits with six strikeouts.
