Sioux Falls scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a 1-1 tie and win the first game of a day-night doubleheader. Sioux City got on the board first in the bottom of the fifth inning on a solo home run by DH Jason Carlson. Sioux Falls would tie it at 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning on a RBI double by 1B Justin Schuda. Canaries relief pitcher Jason Cierlik pitched a scoreless eighth inning to pick up the win. Explorers starting pitcher Trevor Marcotte threw a strong game going seven innings giving up only one run on three hits with six strikeouts.

JD Scholten went six innings giving up three runs on seven hits as the Explorers get a victory and a split in the doubleheader. The Explorers picked up 19 hits on the night, including RF Alex Llanos going 4-5, scoring three runs, driving in two RBI and hitting a solo homerun. The star of the night for Sioux Falls was DH Alex Hernandez, going 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Canaries' pitcher Jason Wall only went 3 2/3 innings, giving up four earned runs on ten hits.

C Jeff Ontiveros and 3B Wilson Burwell lead the way as Coastal Bend hands Pensacola their fifth straight loss. Ontiveros went 2-3 with two hits and two RBI, while Burwell went 3-4 with a RBI. Mike McGowan pitched a scoreless seventh inning to pick up his first victory of the season. Pensacola CF Rolando Avila went 2-3 with a run scored and a RBI in the losing cause.
