SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Fighters took the lead just over four minutes into the second half and didn't let go of it again en route to a 57-39 victory over the host Sioux Falls Storm Saturday night.

It was quarterback Blake Sims' short-yardage scoring plunge with 10:45 left in the third frame that handed Frisco (6-2) what turned out to be a permanent advantage. This in response to Sioux Falls' Nate Chavious' kick return touchdown out of the halftime break.

In all, Sims had an impressive showing, completing 9 of his 12 throws for 192 yards and three aerial strikes. Sheldon Augustine was the largest beneficiary, pulling in five passes for 113 yards and two scores.

Justin Rankin opened the scoring in the initial period and ended up gaining 52 yards on the ground with 11 carries. He had three touchdowns, two of which coming in the fourth quarter as the Fighters held on to keep the edge on the Storm (4-4), which was within four with 10:14 left on the clock.

TJ Edwards' one-yard scamper put the exclamation mark on the team's fourth away win of the campaign.

Next up for Frisco will be a road meeting with Arizona, who halted the Fighters' five-game win streak on Apr. 30.
