
Silvertips Swing Deal with Oil Kings

EVERETT, WA - Everett Silvertips Vice President/General Manager Doug Soetaert today announced a trade with the Edmonton Oil Kings that will bring a third-round pick in the 2012 WHL Draft and 16-year-old defenseman Griffin Foulk to Everett in exchange for 20-year-old forward Tyler Maxwell.
Foulk, who attended training camp with Edmonton in each of the past two preseasons, was an eighth-round selection (#156 overall) of the Oil Kings in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft. He was also chosen in the third round (#44 overall) of the 2011 USHL Futures Draft by the Tri-City Storm (Kearney, Nebraska).
A native of Broomfield, Colorado, Foulk is currently in his second season with the Colorado Thunderbirds Major Midget program. The 6-0, 180-pound, left-shooting defenseman had eight points (3g/5a) and 16 penalty minutes in 35 games for the Thunderbirds last season.
Maxwell departs Everett midway through his 20-year-old campaign after playing 216 games over his three-plus seasons with the franchise. In 19 games with the 'Tips this season, Maxwell totaled 14 points (11g/3a), 17 penalty minutes and a -5 plus/minus rating.
The Silvertips will complete their November homestand with another Friday-Saturday set this Thanksgiving weekend at Comcast Arena, first taking on the Regina Pats Friday at 7:35 pm and then facing the Swift Current Broncos Saturday at 7:05 pm.
