Silvertips shoot by Chiefs, 5-2

The Everett Silvertips scored four goals in the first period on their way to a 5-2 win over the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday night in the Spokane Arena. The game was the third of the season between the two and the Silvertips have taken a 2-1 edge with their win. Spokane had earned a 1-0 win on October 5th in Everett, and the Silvertips returned favor on week later for their first victory over the Chiefs.

Everett's John Lammers scored at 6:33 of the first period and then again at 9:02 to give the Silvertips a 2-0 lead. Chad Klassen answered for Spokane with a rebound of a Adam Hobson shot at 10:55. Drayson Bowman added the other assist.

The Silvertips scored two goals within 2:30 of each other when Shaun Heshka and Michael Wuchterl tallied at 16:11 and 18:41 for a 4-1 lead.

Spokane's Derek Ryan scored the lone goal of the second period with Hobson and Joe Logan assisting on the play. Everett made it a 5-2 final when Heshka scored the only goal in the third.

The Chiefs outshot Everett 38-24 and finished the night 4-5 on the penalty kill. Spokane was 0-3 on the power play.

The game was the first of three in four nights for the Chiefs, all against US Division opponents. Portland will visit on Friday night when the Chiefs present Real Country Night by K102.

Saturday, the first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive a pair of CheerStix courtesy of Coca-Cola on Buck Night. Fans will enjoy $1 Coca-Cola products, Hot Dogs and Popcorn.

Saturday will also be the first of six games that Les Schwab will present coverage of the Chiefs on Comcast. The game will air live on channel 12 on Comcast and be re-aired the next day. The game will also be made available on Comcast's Video On Demand service.
