Canes axe Falls

Lethbridge, Alta. -- On Wednesday night, the Board of Directors of the Lethbridge Hurricanes announced that general manager Darren Stocker and head coach Lindsay Hofford have been relieved of their duties immediately.

"Darren has been a large part of our organization for the past thirteen years and we would like to thank him for the contribution he has made during his time with the club," said club President Brian McNaughton. "We truly wish him well in the future. The board would also like to thank Lindsay for his contributions to the organization and we wish him the best of luck as well."

The 'Canes were 7-7-0-2 under Hofford, good for third place in the Central Division, eight points behind the Calgary Hitmen. Both men faced scrutiny heading into the season after Lethbridge squandered a 39-20-12-1 record last season with a loss to the Hitmen in the opening round of post-season play.

Replacements weren't immediately named. Lethbridge's next game is Saturday night against the visiting Everett Silvertips.
