Silvertips Hold Green vs Grey Game

EVERETT, Wash. - Two goals in the first period helped steer a balanced attack for Team Green, who seized a 5-2 victory over Team Grey in the annual Silvertips Green vs. Grey Game, wrapping up the first phase of 2019 Silvertips Training Camp presented by Jimmy John's on Sunday at Angel of the Winds Arena in downtown Everett.
With assistant coach Louis Mass behind the bench for the winning squad, they got out to a 1-0 lead with 3:57 left in the first period on a Ty Gibson blast from the high slot, set up by veteran Gianni Fairbrother. Overager Max Patterson then banged in a one timer from the right circle, set up from behind the net by defenseman Olen Zellweger, with 27.4 left in the period for a 2-0 edge.
At 8:41 of the second period, forward Blake Setter cashed in a rebound for a 3-0 advantage before Team Grey responded with 4:20 left. Wyatte Wylie, set to depart after the weekend for Philadelphia Flyers camp, strung a long outlet pass that hit Gage Goncalves on the tape inside the attacking blueline. Goncalves quickly re-directed to forward Brendan Lee, who set up Jacob Wright's beautiful snapper between the circles.
Team Green held a 23-19 shots advantage after two periods.
Connor Dewar, skating with the Silvertips before heading to Minnesota Wild camp, cashed in on a power play breakaway set up by defenseman Aiden Sutter to cut the deficit to 3-2 just 5:05 into the third period. But Jake Christiansen restored the Team Green lead to two goals when he dangled to the net at 7:57 and buried a wrist shot up high.
Nate Goodbrandson sealed the victory for Team Green with an empty net goal.

Preseason Packs, offering all nine games of the tournament, are on sale for $75. "Everett Only" packs (offering all three Silvertips pre-season games in the tournament) are available for only $35 per seat while single-game preseason tickets (general admission) are on sale.
