Silvertips Earn Victory Against Kamloops, 5-2

Kamloops, BC - The Everett Silvertips, led by a 38 save night from Thomas Heemskerk, defeated the Kamloops Blazers 5-2 Tuesday night at Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops, B.C. Shane Harper made Silvertips history yet again by passing John Lammers '05-'06 single season goal record after netting his 39th goal of the season in the first period. Harper now sits alone as first all time in Franchise history in goals scored in a single season with 39. Scott MacDonald picked up three points (1G, 2A) and currently has a five game point streak. The Silvertips, with their win Tuesday night, have collected at least one point in their last nine games. Harper along with Clayton Cumiskey, who had one goal and one assist and Daniel Iwanski, who had a goal Tuesday night, extend their point streaks to three games.

Harper started off the scoring Tuesday night with his team leading 39th goal of the season at 12:04 of the first period. The Silvertips forward collected Everett's first goal of the night on the power play after banking the puck off Jon Groenheyde and into the back of the net for a 1-0 Everett lead. Kamloops tied the game at 17:16 with Mark Hall's third goal of the season. Kamloops led 12-4 in shots after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Silvertips controlled play in the second period adding on three goals to their lead. Cumiskey scored his sixth of the season at 8:25 with a slap shot from the right circle that beat Groenheyde top shelf, glove side. Zack Dailey made the score 3-1 after taking a 2 on 1 feed from Harper and stickhandling past Groenheyde for his ninth goal of the season. Iwanski finished out the period with his eighth goal of the year after deflecting a Radko Gudas slap from the point past Groenheyde at 18:39 to make the score 4-1 at the end of the second period.

Kamloops cut the lead down to two after Austin Madaisky scored his seventh of the season at 8:27 of the third period on the power play. MacDonald rounded out the scoring for Everett Tuesday night with his seventh of the year at 19:12 with an empty net goal.

This brings the 'Tips record to 42-19-3-2 with 89 points in 66 games played. The Silvertips continue their four game road trip this Friday and Saturday with back to back games against the Prince George Cougars. Both games have a scheduled puck drop of 7:00 pm.
