Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips are proud to champion Apraxia Awareness Month in partnership with Grace's Bridge to Communication!

Grace's Bridge to Communication, a registered non-profit, is an organization providing ID bracelets for non-verbal children affected by Apraxia at no cost to the family. Childhood Apraxia of Speech is a rare neurological motor-processing speech disorder. Founder Allison Jones formed the organization in honor of her six-year-old daughter Grace, diagnosed with the condition, who primarily communicates through an AAC device and regularly participates in speech therapy both at her school and at Seattle Children's.

Through Jones' activism and advocacy, there has been heightened awareness of children and families impacted by verbal communication difficulties and have found success in providing communication boards at local parks, playgrounds and schools. Arlington, Edmonds, Marysville, Sultan and Snohomish have all issued proclamations in recognition of Apraxia Awareness Day on May 14.

The Everett Silvertips are proud to offer their platform and volunteer hours to spread Grace's message of inclusion and understanding.

More information can be found on the Grace's Bridge to Communication Facebook page or by contacting Allison Jones via email.
