
Capitals Re-Assign Suzdalev to AHL's Hershey Bears

Arlington, VA - Saskatoon Blades forward Alexander Suzdalev has been re-assigned to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL). Washington Capitals President and General Manager Brian MacLellan announced the move on Saturday, May 11th.
The Capitals selected the 20-year-old winger with the 70th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Suzdalev was acquired by the Blades on Dec. 31st, 2023 from the Regina Pats. The 6-foot-3 sniper finished the regular season with nine goals and 16 assists in 30 games and was a +8. The Khabarovsk, Russia native added four goals and nine assists in 16 playoff games during Saskatoon's run to the Eastern Conference Final.
Prior to returning to North American for his second WHL season, Suzdalev appeared in 13 games with Mora IK of HockeyAllsvenskan (Sweden-2), registering two goals and one assist.
The left-handed shot recorded 38 goals and 48 assists games with the Pats during the 2022-23 season and was named to the CHL All-Rookie Team. Suzdalev led WHL rookies in goals, assists, and points. Suzdalev ranked tied for 11th among all skaters in scoring. Suzdalev was named the WHL Rookie of the Month for the months of December and February, the only player to earn the honour twice during the 2022-23 season.
The Bears defeated the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 3-1 in the best-of-five Atlantic Division Semifinals after a 5-3 victory in Game 5 on Saturday. Hershey's push for the Calder Cup continues on Thursday when they begin the best-of-five Atlantic Division Finals against the Hartford Wolfpack.
