The Everett Silvertips are off to their best start in franchise history with a 9-1-0-1 (19 points) record and are currently in 1st place in the US Division. The Silvertips will battle the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday night at the Everett Events Center before the team embarks on their longest road trip of the season. The only blemish on the Silvertips record is due to the Spokane Chiefs who have defeated the Silvertips twice this season The Silvertips will begin their 7 game road trip in Prince George, BC to battle the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night.
EVERETT SILVERTIPS LEADING SCORERS
The Everett Silvertips are led in scoring by Zach Hamill (7 goals, 11 assists) with 18 points. The Port Coquitlam, BC native also leads the team in assists (11), goals (7) and power play goals (5). Rookie forward Kyle Beach (6 goals, 7 assists) is 2nd on the hockey club in scoring with 13 points. Forward Peter Mueller (3 goals, 7 assists) is 3rd on the hockey club in scoring with 10 points. Currently Graham Potuer is leading the hockey club in +/- with a +8 rating. In goal, Leland Irving has posted an 8-1-0-1 record, 1.19 GAA, 95.1% SP and 3 Shutouts this season. Everett's new goaltender David Reekie is currently 1-0 with the Silvertips.
EVERETT SILVERTIPS AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS
Silvertips forward Zach Hamill (7 goals, 11 assists) is tied for 7th in the WHL in scoring with 18 points. Kyle Beach (6 goals, 7 assists) is 5th in rookie scoring with 13 points. Silvertips goaltender Leland Irving is currently 1st in the WHL in GAA (1.19), 1st in SP (95.1%), 1st in Wins (8) and 1st in Shutouts (3).
SILVERTIPS SPECIAL TEAMS
The Silvertips are currently 4th in the WHL on the power play (21 for 105, 20.0%) and 2nd in the WHL on the penalty kill (78 of 84, 92.9%).
VERSUS THE SPOKANE CHIEFS
Wednesday night will be the third of eight meetings between the two US Division rivals. Everett is currently 0-1-0-1 against the Chiefs this season. In their last meeting on October 13 at Spokane Arena, the Chiefs defeated the Silvertips 5-2. Spokane Chiefs forward Michael Grabner posted 3 goals for the hat trick in the win over Everett. Currently, the Silvertips are leading the all time season series against the Spokane Chiefs with a 18-9-1 (SOL)-1 (Tie) record. Everett is also 10-4-1 (SOL)-3 all time against the Chiefs at the Everett Events Center. VERSUS THE PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS
Saturday night will be the first of five meetings against the Cougars this season. Last season Everett went 3-1 against the Cougars and posted a 1-1 record at the CN Centre in Prince George, BC. The Silvertips are 6-6 all time against the Prince George Cougars in franchise history and 3-3 against the Cougars all time in Prince George, BC. THIS WEEK IN SILVERTIPS HISTORY
On October 27, 2004 the Everett Silvertips defeated the Kamloops Blazers 6-0 at the Everett Events Center. Goaltender Mike Wall made 23 saves for the shutout while Zach Hamill added 2 goals in the win. Mark Kress, Shaun Heshka, Brady Calla added goals while Jonathan Harty posted his first career WHL goal.
