GAME NOTES: The WHEAT KINGS open up a 6-game western road swing Wednesday night in VANCOUVER against the defending Western Hockey League Champion GIANTS...BRANDON plays three games in three nights this weekend (CHILLIWACK, KELOWNA and KAMLOOPS), before hitting PRINCE GEORGE and RED DEER next Wednesday and Friday...BRANDON returns home November 8th to play the EVERETT SILVERTIPS...BRANDON begins the trip riding a 4-game win streak - its longest of the season...Winners of five of their last six, the WHEAT KINGS have managed to collect at least a point in six straight games (5-0-0-1)...Their only bl emish was a 5-4 Overtime Shootout loss to REGINA last weekend...BRANDON hasn't lost since October 8th (3-1 to KOOTENAY)...The WHEAT KINGS are coming off a sweep of a 2-game weekend home stand, defeating LETHBRIDGE 9-5 on Friday and KOOTENAY 4-1 on Saturday...BRANDON is currently sitting atop the Eastern Division with a record of 8-4-0-1, good for seventeen points and a one point lead on second place SWIFT CURRENT...Winners of three straight road games, the WHEATS are currently playing .500 hockey on the road (3-3-0)...At the Keystone Centre, they're 5-1-0-1...BRANDON is 6-3-0-1 in its last ten games...Wednesday's game will be BRANDONS first against Western Conference clubs this season...The WHEATS are 5-2-0 agianst Central Division clubs and 3-2-0-1 against Eastern Division rivals...BRANDON currently has 25 players on its roster (2 goalkeepers, 8 defenceman and 15 forwards).

LAST GAME: The WHEAT KINGS built up a 2-0 second period lead en route to a 4-1 victory over the visiting KOOTENAY ICE on Saturday night...COLORADO AVALANCHE second round draft choice CODEY BURKI scored twice for the winners while singles came off the sticks of defenceman DARYL BOYLE and TEEGAN MOORE...It was the first goal of the season for the BRANDON captain, who missed six games recently with a minor shoulder injury...Defenceman DUSTIN KOHN added a pair of assists for the WHEAT KINGS, who outshot the ICE 24-23...The WHEATS were 2-5 on the powerplay while managing to kill off 8 of 9 KOOTENAY powerplays.

SPECIAL TEAMS: BRANDON continues to lead the WHL with a powerplay that is clicking at 30.9% (26-84)...Eight of CODEY BURKI'S eleven goals this season have come on the powerplay while MARK DERLAGO has scored six...Penalty killing, the WHEATS are 13th (81.6%)...RYAN REAVES has two shorthanded tallies...Through the first 13 games of the regular season, BRANDON has been shorthanded 41 more times than it has enjoyed the man advantage (3.16 per game), which leads the league...In fact, CHILLIWACK and SPOKANE are next at 23 and 17 respectively...At the other end, MEDICINE HAT and VANCOUVER have enjoyed 27 and 20 more powerplays than penalty kills.

MILESTONES: MARK DERLAGO surpassed the 100-point plateau in his WHL career this past weekend...Defenceman DUSTIN KOHN, who is four points away from the century mark in his WHL career, played in his 200th career game on October 14th in SASKATOON...Captain TEEGAN MOORE is nine points away from the century mark...Goalkeeper TYLER PLANTE recently moved past RICK KNICKLE and RON HEXTALL and into seventh place on the club's all time list for minutes played. As well, he's played 121 career games - one less than GEORGE MANELUK, who currently occupies sixth place on the club's all time list....17-year old JOE CALIGIURI stopped 23 shots in backstopping BRANDON to last Saturday's win over the BLADES in SASKATOON in th e WHL debut of the former Manitoba AAA Midget League all star.

SCORING STATS: MARK DERLAGO has taken over the club scoring lead with 21 points including eleven goals in 13 games, good for fourth place in WHL scoring...CODEY BURKI (11-9-20) is fifth, JURAJ SIMEK (9-9-18) is ninth, ANDREW CLARK (5-12-17) is 12th and DUSTIN KOHN (2-13-15) is 18th overall and third among blueliners...DERLAGO enters Wednesday's game riding a career high 9-game point scoring streak and during that span, he's 10-10-20...BURKI has points in five of his last six (7-4-11)...SIMEK, who is third in WHL Rookie scoring, has points in ten of his 11 games this year...KOHN has points in four of his last five (0-7-7)...RYAN REAVES has six goals in his last four games...ANDREW CLARK had a 5-game point scoring streak (3-10-13) snapped Saturday night.

DID YOU KNOW? BRANDON has been victimized for goals one six 5 on 3 powerplays...BRANDON has lost 22 man games to injury this year...WHEATS lost to VANCOUVER in the only game played between the two last season...ANDREW CLARK leads the club with a +13 ranking...During last year's 5-game October west coast trip, BRANDON was 1-3-0-1...WHEATS were 1-3-3 two years ago...and were 3-9-0-1 after thirteen games last winter.
