Silvertips Acquire Snohomish County Native and RW Luke Ormsby from the Seattle Thunderbirds in Excha

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), five time U.S. Division champions, and general manager Garry Davidson announced today the team has acquired right winger Luke Ormsby from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for a ninth round selection in the 2018 WHL Draft.
"We're excited to welcome an individual like Luke to the Silvertips family, who brings proven experience at this level and a homegrown player as well," said Davidson. "His hard work, beginning in Everett Youth Hockey, gave him the necessary tools to improve each year and reach the WHL level. He gets around the ice very well, and shows up to play with emotion and intensity."
Ormsby, 18, is a native of Snohomish County and Monroe, Wash. with 80 games of WHL experience, all with the Thunderbirds. He has earned six goals and six assists while suiting up in 14 postseason games and collecting an assist.
As a part of last season's squad that captured their first WHL title in franchise history, Ormsby suited up in 65 games in his first full season and collected 11 points (6g-5a) and 25 penalty minutes.
Born in Port Angeles and a previous resident of Everett and Bellingham, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound forward was selected by the Thunderbirds in the ninth round of the 2014 WHL Draft. He earned his first career playoff assist at XFINITY Arena against the Silvertips in last season's second round of the playoffs, suited up in 41 of the final 42 games of the regular season, and scored his first career goal last season on Seattle's opening night at Portland on Sept. 24.
The Tips return to play at XFINITY Arena, starting on Friday, Nov. 3 against the Prince George Cougars at 7:35 p.m. Tickets are on sale at www.everettsilvertips.com/hhh.
