San Antonio Stars News Release

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Silver Stars Chief Operating Officer Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil announced today that the Silver Stars have acquired Chantelle Anderson from the Sacramento Monarchs in exchange for San Antonio's first round pick in the 2006 WBNA Draft that they acquired from Connecticut in the Margo Dydek/Katie Feenstra trade on April 16. The trade is contingent on Anderson passing a physical and the Silver Stars obtaining her medical records.

The second overall pick in the 2003 WNBA Draft, Anderson has spent the past two seasons with the Monarchs. Last season she appeared in 30 games, averaging 2.6 points and 1.1 rebounds in 7.7 minutes per game. For her career, the 6'6" center has appeared in 56 games, averaging 2.1 points and 1.0 rebounds in 7.2 minutes per game. She has also appeared in seven of the Monarchs playoffs games over the past two seasons, averaging 1.3 points in 5.7 minutes per game.

During the 2004-05 offseason Anderson played for USVO in Valenciennes, France and averaged 9.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Anderson had a stellar collegiate career at Vanderbilt University. She finished her career with the Commodores as the all-time leading scorer in school history with 2,604 points and is Vanderbilt's all-time leader in field goal percentage with a 65.1 percent (1020-1568) average. Anderson was selected to the All-SEC First Team three times (2001, 2002, 2003) and was named SEC Player of the Year in 2002. During the 2001-02 season she led the nation in field goal percentage knocking down 72.3 percent of her shots, which ranks second in NCAA history.

The Silver Stars are currently getting ready for the 2005 season with training camp taking place at the Antioch Sports Complex and Community Center. San Antonio opens the 2005 regular season at the SBC Center on Saturday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m. when Sheryl Swoopes and the Houston Comets come to town.

Saturday's game will be the first of eight games televised on KRRT WB-35. The "Voice of the Silver Stars" Andrew Monaco will handle the play-by-play action during the broadcasts while Fran Harris returns for her third season to provide color commentary.

Fans can also tune in and listen to all of the team's 2005 WNBA games on Clear Channel radio stations KSJL 92.5 FM/810 AM or the Ticket 760 AM. Please check the Silver Stars radio schedule to determine which channel the game will be on.
