SACRAMENTO, CALIF., MAY 18, 2005 - The Sacramento Monarchs today announce that the organization traded center Chantelle Anderson to San Antonio and acquired the Silver Stars first round draft pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft, originally received from Connecticut (Dydek/Feenstra, 4/16/05).

Anderson, Sacramento's first round 2003 WNBA Draft pick (2nd overall), spent two seasons with the franchise (2003 and 2004). She played in 56 games with the Monarchs averaging 7.1 minutes, 2.1 points, 1.0 rebound, 0.2 assists, 0.1 steals and 0.2 blocks per game. The 6'6" Anderson still remains Vanderbilt's all-time leading scorer (2,604) and currently ranks second all-time in the NCAA in field goal percentage for a season as she led the nation with a 72.3 field goal percentage in 2001.

"San Antonio is getting a great athlete in Chantelle Anderson," said Monarchs Head Coach and General Manager John Whisenant. "We originally drafted her because she was an outstanding player in college and we see great potential in her future. Unfortunately, with the system that we play she wasn't going to get the minutes that she might elsewhere and we hope San Antonio will be a better fit for her."

The Monarchs camp roster now stands at thirteen, with six returning players, three WNBA veterans, two draft picks and two free agents.

The first of seventeen regular-season home games will be played on Saturday, June 4, at ARCO Arena when the Monarchs host the Los Angeles Sparks at 1:00 p.m. in a game to be nationally televised on ABC. Sacramento's regular season will begin on the road on Saturday, May 21, at the Phoenix Mercury at 7 p.m. at America West Arena. Fans are asked to call (916) 419-WNBA for information about season ticket packages. For more information, please visit the Monarchs website at www.SacramentoMonarchs.com.
