Johnson and Lambert Waived by Comets

HOUSTON – The Houston Comets announced today that the team has waived center Tiffani Johnson and guard Sheila Lambert. The Comets roster currently stands at the WNBA roster limit of 11 players heading into the final cut-down date on May 20.
Johnson (6-4, Tennessee ‘98) joined the Comets as a free agent on May 3, 2000. She posted averages of 4.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in 156 career games with the Sacramento Monarchs (6 games) and Houston (150 games). Johnson ranked fourth all-time with the Comets in games played (150), total rebounds (643) and blocked shots (79). She also ranked sixth in team annals in total points (699).
Lambert (5-7, Baylor ‘02), who signed with Houston as a free agent on May 7, 2004, averaged 5.8 points, 2.6 assists and 2.0 rebounds in her only season with the Comets. Overall, she holds career averages of 4.5 points, 1.6 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 64 games with the Charlotte Sting (3 games), Detroit Shock (27 games) and Houston (34 games). Drafted by Charlotte in the first round (7th overall) of the 2002 WNBA Draft, Lambert signed as a free agent with Detroit on May 23, 2003. She was acquired by Phoenix from Detroit on April 17, 2004, but released by the Mercury during training camp.
