Silver Sox Evade Flyers The Reno Silver Sox escaped the Orange County Flyers tonight, July 27, after only leading by one run, the Silver Sox pounded Orange County for five runs in the eighth, winning 10 - 4.

The Silver Sox struck first when DH Juan Senreiso hit a solo homerun over the leftfield fence giving the Silver Sox and early 1 - 0 lead. Senreiso would finish the night going 2-5 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Tied 2 - 2 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Silver Sox seemed to figure out Flyer starting pitcher Ben Fox, and scored three runs to take a 5 - 2 lead. 3B Carlos Madrid blasted a three-run homerun over the leftfield fence, scoring CF Victor Hall and Senreiso. Madrid finished the night going 1 - 2 with 3 RBIs, 3 runs scored, and 2 walks.

The Flyers however, weren't going to go away and scored a run in the sixth and the seventh, to cut the Silver Sox lead to one. Silver Sox starter Matt Parris pitched 6 2/3 innings shutting down the Flyers to just four runs even though the bases were leaded twice in the first and second innings. Parris finished with four earned runs off of 8 hits, and striking out four Flyers.

The bullpen finally came into a game and dominated like they should. Shawn Balteff, who started a game three days ago, came in to relieve Parris after Parris allowed two runners to get on base. Balteff walked the first Flyer he faced, but got the next batter to fly out. Balteff returned in the eighth and shut the Flyers down, allowing no hits and striking out two.

Then, the Silver Sox manhandled Flyer reliever Ezequiel Ruvalcaba. After loading the bases with a walk and two singles. 2B Maurice Cole was able to reach on an error, scoring Madrid. Then Hall hit a bases clearing triple. Hall finished the night going 3-4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Hall would score after Senreiso grounded out to thrid, but the damage was done and the Silver Sox now led 10 - 4.

Jason Martinez came into the game in the ninth and besides allowing one hit was untouchable by the Flyers and closed out the game.
