Flyers Fall Late

The Orange County Flyers trailed by just one run heading into the 8th inning, but the Reno SilverSox rallied for six runs to beat the Flyers 10-4 at Peccole Park Friday night.

Peanut Williams led a Flyers comeback with three hits and two runs batted in. The Flyers trailed 5-2 and would get as close as 5-4, but the bullpen could not hold Reno off.

Ezequiel Ruvalcaba, in relief of SP Ben Fox, made a crucial throwing error on a possible double play ball with the bases loaded and one out in the 8th inning. Reno CF Victor Hall followed the error with a three-run triple to put the game away.

Reno took a 5-2 lead on a three-run homerun by Carlos Madrid off Fox.

Juan Senreiso also had a solo shot for the SilverSox and Mark Okano went deep for Orange County.

The Flyers dropped to 4-6 in the second half and it was the first loss for Ben Fox this season, now 3-1.

Reno is now 5-4 in the second half and will host the Flyers at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday at Peccole Park. The action can be heard on KWRM 1370 AM and orangecountyflyers.com.
