Reno Silver Sox News Release
The Reno Silver Sox gave a valiant effort tonight, June 29, but just couldn't hold off the Scorpions, losing 6 - 3.
The Sox started off the game strong thanks to a solo homerun by 3B Carlos Madrid, his third on the year. The solo shot gave the Silver Sox the early lead that they would hold onto until the eighth inning.
Going into the fifth inning, the Scorpions tried to steal the lead from the Silver Sox scoring two runs to take a 2-1 lead. However, the Silver Sox wouldn't let that happen so easily. With C Masa Chikazawa on first, CF Victor Hall blasted a homerun over the left field wall to take the lead back for the Silver Sox, 3-2.
Silver Sox starter Dusty Bergman pitched his best, but was undone by Silver Sox errors. As every Scorpions run, except for one came with two outs. In the eighth, Bergman struck out the first two batter he faced. Then the Scorpions hit a hot streak, knocking in three runs off of four hits, however all of the runs were unearned.
The Scorpions would add one more run in ninth inning for insurance, but they wouldn't need as the Silver Sox were unable to threaten the three run Scorpion lead.
The Silver Sox return to Peccole Park tomorrow night, June 30, to take on the Scorpions in the second game of this three game series. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m.
