Orange County Flyers News Release

The Flyers pitching staff blew leads of 5-0 and 7-6 to drop another close game at Nettleton Stadium 11-7. The Chico Outlaws have now taken the first three games of this four-game series and lead Orange County (14-9) by 2.5 games in the first half standings.

LF Scott Goodman capped a three-run rally for the Flyers in the 1st inning by slamming a homerun for the fourth consecutive game. He leads the Golden Baseball League in homers with six.

The Flyers offense continued to roll when Dave Bacani and Aaron Davis executed a double steal in the 7th inning, which scored Davis and tied the game at 6-6. Bacani was then driven home by Rich Pohle on a sac fly to put the Flyers in the lead.

Chico used two five-run innings to eclipse both Flyers' leads. In the 4th inning, the Outlaws batted 10 and received a two-run homerun from DH Jake Ferris to key the rally. In the 8th inning, Chico took the lead for good during a rally that was started by two walks. 3B Scott Dragicevich lined his third double of the night to tie the game at 7-7. Robert Salini tossed a wild pitch which scored Jesse Kovacs from third to put the Outlaws in front.

The Flyers will turn to SP Mike Natale to hold off the sweep Sunday at Nettleton Stadium. All the action will commence at 6:05 p.m. on KWRM 1370 AM and orangecountyflyers.com.
